River Readings, 2018-2019
River readings were three pre-pandemic evenings of food, sharing, and experimental performance between artists on my floating home on Canoe Passage in the Fraser River Estuary.
Each gathering was built on the last. The first gathering was a sharing of artworks and poetry. The second gathering was a performance by all who came—local poets, performers, and artists created an inter-species improvisation on the water including video projection and sound. Each participant brought lines written from their perspective on the Fraser River: the physical inhabitant, the poet, the ecologist, the geographer, the visual artist.
The third gathering built on the performance of the second gathering, with readings, projections, and sound.
