MOTHLIKE/silvery-blue Exhibition
Richmond Art Gallery, 2023
Curators: Shaun Dacey and Zoë Chan
This exhibition was the culmination of years of research and activity along the foreshore of the Fraser River Estuary. Artworks, recordings, and costumes from site-specific performances along the foreshore, and a Nest-work installation was built as a place for communal action and knowledge.
Summer Solstice:
My collaborators and I followed an experimental two-week score, including performances at Garry Point Park and at the gallery, and walks on the dike trails of the Fraser River Delta.
Nest-work:
As artist-in-residence with RAG (2021-2023), I created a community framework—educational and diverse partnerships and programs. These were made to facilitate kinship to the more-than-human world.
The Nest-work included bird-friendly window treatments, artworks, and live footage of a barn owl nest box from Richmond Park’s Nest Box Program. Throughout the exhibition, the Nest-work housed gatherings, performances and storytelling activities on birds and the river estuary.
These works were made to draw attention to the proposed expansion of the Roberts Bank Terminal in Delta, BC.
